What is the Brakes for Breasts Program?
For the month of October, until the 31st, we are offering our Brakes for Breasts promotion. That means free Brake Pad or Shoes all October long. We donate 10% of the proceeds will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund. This is not only to our shop but shops across the country are participating in this to raise over $100,000 in proceeds! We want to defeat our goal from last year which was $680.00. This all happens around Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is also in October.
This is a wonderful cause we are happy to support but some may be completely clueless when it comes to anything Brakes related, other than that they make the car stop. Let's be honest, when they tell me I need new Brakes, I am sent a detailed inspection report, and shown all the pictures to see that diagnosis is correct, but let's dive deeper... Having good Brakes, versus not. Who is to know exactly what condition you are driving with? I luckily, had our ASE Certified Technician, Gene to show me through an example of worn Brakes on a vehicle. Where I was able to get up close and see what made these Brakes worn, and why he was able to make that diagnosis.
We walked through Brake Pads, Calipers, Rotors, Brake Fluid, ALL things Brakes. Which is why I thought this would be a helpful video to share with you all!
When it comes to Breast Cancer, this is something that tugs at my heartstrings. I've seen the struggles firsthand when someone is fighting this awful disease, between Chemo and Radiation, and all in between, with no cure still to this day, is heartbreaking for any family. But, to have a Grandmother and Aunt, still here fighting with us today, gives me hope that we are getting closer and closer to finding a cure. My hope is that developing a vaccine will come sometime in their lifetime, so I can spend as much time as I can with them. I am hopeful that someday we will live in a world without the mention of Cancer.
It's true that together we can find a cure, we have an opportunity to save lives. Being a small part of what we can do as an Auto Repair Shop to give to developing a vaccine is truly an honor. Doing this every year makes us one of the many shops that have the honor of saying,"We are putting the Brakes on Breast Cancer!"
