Auto Repair Shop Ending Hunger in Southwest Florida Part II

Auto Repair Shop Ending Hunger in Southwest Florida Part II

Auto Repair Shop Ending Hunger in Southwest Florida Part II Back in November we had run a campaign to collect canned goods, non perishables, hygiene products and even pet products for the South County Food Pantry. We decided to keep the food drive running through the new year and even had help from another auto repair shop on the East coast of Florida, A&H Automotive. Through these gracious efforts we hope to get the food Pantries and food banks back in good standing since hurricane Ian swept through.  We received boxes of goods from A&H automotive and items from our local clientele that all contributed to our second haul for the South County Food Pantry. A&H understood what all entails when you are hit with a category 5 hurricane, so they jumped right in to help us with our initiative. We couldn't be more thankful for the support we have received from them and all contributing businesses over on the east coast to make this possible.  ... read more

How Do I Improve my Fuel Economy?

How Do I Improve my Fuel Economy?

How do I Improve my Fuel Economy?   These days you might be cringing at the gas pump each time you visit with the rising fuel prices. In this blog, we would like to discuss what you can do as a driver to improve your fuel economy and hopefully save you some money when it's time to fill up! Summer months are quickly approaching, when there is a rise in temperature, your fuel economy can actually increase because your engine doesn't have to work so hard to get up to a normal temperature. To counteract this though, there is the running of the A/C system in your vehicle that reduces fuel economy to keep the inside of the vehicle at a comfortable temperature. The easy solution to this you would think would be just rolling the windows down, right? But no. Rolling the windows down can also decrease fuel economy because now your vehicle is fighting against the wind resistance and using more power to push through that! Not to mention, who wants to roll the ... read more

Why Does My Car Smell Like Burning Oil?

Why Does My Car Smell Like Burning Oil?

Why Does My Car Smell Like Burning Oil?    Oil, a major component to your vehicle, and often times can be leaking from those compartments that holds it. A guest of ours recently came into our shop with the complaint of a "hot smell". Our technician Tony informed me that the term "hot smell" usually always refers to the smell that stems from an oil leak, where the oil is dripping onto another component in the vehicle and burning essentially. In this case, the oil leak was coming from a bad Valve Cover Gasket. Oil leaking from or around the engine can be potentially dangerous. You could significantly damage your engine if you let an oil leak go. You want to avoid fire hazards, but also, future expensive repairs.  He found this leak upon doing a thorough visual inspection, oil residue found coming out of the Valve Cover Gasket.    What Tony found was the oil that was l ... read more

Why Is My Car Shaking When Idle?

Why Is My Car Shaking When Idle?    Have you ever experienced a rough idle or lots of shaking while you are stopped at a stop light or maybe you are slowing down, and it just starts to shake out of nowhere? There could be a variety of different reasons for this, it's not something you want to ignore as it may be a big underlying issue!   We recently had a BMW X2 in the shop that was experiencing this symptom. Upon doing a full diagnosis to the vehicle, our technician found that this was coming from the Motor Mounts. After asking my Service Manager about this issue, he stated that Motor Mounts can have many names, and can be different depending on make and model of vehicle. For instance, trucks usually have Engine Mounts that are metal and rubber, whereas other vehicles like this BMW X2 have mounts that have rubber with liquid inside of them, also known as hydraulic fluid. For this vehicle, Chris our ASE Certified Master Import & Eur ... read more
